Riccardo Tisci left Givenchy only a few days ago and the fashion-house is already looking for a new designer. Rumors have been going around that OFF-WHITE’s Virgil Abloh will be taking over as the brand’s chief designer. From being Kanye West’s personal stylist to the rapid growth of his brand, Virgil’s placement with the Parisian brand could mean a lot for the streetwear world.
While Abloh has not confirmed or denied these rumours, he told WWD that “My trajectory is to update and provide something new in the fashion industry by way of creating a project and using it as a case study on how to update a luxury house.” To further speculation, Abloh goes on to say “I have a litany of ideas that bring modern relevance, but also a financial vision on how these brands can be more successful in the space of luxury…”
Is OFF-WHITE just a springboard for something greater? Could we be seeing more stripes and flannel in Givenchy’s new line? How do you feel about the switch? Let us know in the comments!
