The iconic swoosh will be taking over NYC from uptown to downtown.
At New York Fashion Week this year, Nike will be showing the world what it means to be New York made. The iconic Swoosh will be taking over NYC from uptown to downtown, paying homage to its basketball and streetwear influences at numerous host launches alongside notable collaborators. What we can expect from Nike in 2017 is innovative spins on Nike classics from Comme des Garçons, KITH, Riccardo Tisci, and VLONE.
Nike’s first collaborative effort comes from Comme des Garçons as they take a modern approach to the classic Nike Dunk silhouette. The CDG X NikeLab Dunk HI retro features a deep black and cream upper body with transparent PVC toes and side panels. The iconic swoosh is overlaid on the side panels while CDG is embellished on the heel.
KITH takes a different approach with its ode to basketball silhouettes. Nike and KITH launched the commemorative “5 Decades of Basketball,” collection with new editions of the Air Force 1 Sport Lux, Blazer Studio Low, Air Foamposite Pro, Air Zoom Generation, and the Flight Bonafide. The collection releases at KITH on February 10th, and internationally on February 18th.
Riccardo Tisci takes a modernist approach to the classic Nike Dunk. Named the NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka, the sneaker will be available in three colorways, complemented by matching Nike Destroyer jackets. The RT x NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka drops on February 10th at a special NikeLab location in Bergdorf Goodman.
Last but not least, on the Harlem side we have VLONE and its co-founder A$AP Bari with the much anticipated VLONE x Nike Air Force 1. With various teaser images popping up all over Instagram, the silhouette pays tribute to the legendary evolution of Harlem’s basketball culture. The collaboration is expected to launch on February 11th at an undisclosed pop up in Harlem.
